Policy assistant

You’ll build an agent in Microsoft Teams that answers HR policy questions from your official documents and stays carefully within scope.

The plan

  1. Create the policy agent
  2. Load your HR policies as a knowledge base
  3. Set guardrails
  4. Connect Microsoft Teams

Step 1 — Create the agent

Create an agent in Agents. In System instructions, require answers grounded in the policy docs, with a clear note when something needs an HR person.

Step 2 — Add your policies

Create a knowledge base with your handbook, leave policy, and benefits docs, and attach it so answers cite the real source.

Step 3 — Set guardrails

Apply guardrails in the Capabilities tab so the assistant avoids giving advice outside policy and keeps responses safe. Keep it read-only.

Step 4 — Connect Microsoft Teams

Add Microsoft Teams as a channel and complete setup in the Microsoft Teams integration so employees can ask in the tools they already use.
